Sports Rules

American Football – NFL AND NCAA

  • All markets will be settled on the result, including overtime, unless stated otherwise or where the market has been unconditionally determined. In the event of a game ending as a draw after overtime, all wagers on the moneyline market will be considered void, and the stake will be returned. Wagers on Handicap, Total, and any extra markets will be settled as normal.
  • If a match is played on a different date or at a different venue than originally scheduled, all wagers will be cancelled and refunded.
  • If a match starts but is later abandoned or postponed, then within three days of the scheduled start date:(a) at least 55 minutes of play must have elapsed; or (b) an official result must be ‘called’ by the relevant governing body; otherwise all bets will be void, except for those on markets which have been unconditionally determined. In those circumstances, if the scores are tied, then all bets on the outright match winner market will be void.
  • 1st Half Moneyline – this market is settled based on the first half score. If the first half ends in a draw, then wagers will be void. If the match is abandoned before the completion of the first half, then wagers will also be void.
  • Proposition and game-statistics wagers will be settled on official statistics provided by the NFL.
  • Half Time/Full Time – this market is settled based on the result at the end of Regulation Time. Overtime is not included. If the match is abandoned before the end of Regulation time, all wagers on this market will be void.
  • For “Player” markets (eg, Player Throwing Yards, Player Receiving Yards, Player Rushing Yards), the selected player(s) must play for action. Any bets made on players who do not play will be refunded.
  • 1st Touchdown Scorer: Bets stand as long as your selected player is active (in uniform and ready to play) as per nfl.com. Bets are void on players who are not listed as active by the relevant American Football governing body. Overtime is counted for this market.
  • For the NFL Super Bowl winner, Division and Conference markets, wagers on each team will be settled once that team is eliminated.
  • Coin Toss: Will the outcome of the coin toss be heads or tails after it gets flipped?
  • NFL Regular Season MVP: Other players available on request

Australian Rules

  • Bets apply to regular time, excluding overtime. However, bets on “Finals” matches apply to regular time, including overtime except for those on markets which have been unconditionally determined or as stated otherwise in the Market Information
  • All unmatched wagers will be cancelled at kick-off (or the game’s scheduled starting time, if the game is untelevised). If the market is subsequently turned “in running”, at kick-off, all unmatched bets will be cancelled and the market will be turned live.
  • If a match does not start on the scheduled starting date and is not completed within three days of the scheduled start date, all bets will be void except for those on markets which have been unconditionally determined.
  • If a match starts but is abandoned or postponed before half-time and not completed within three days of the scheduled start date, then the match shall be deemed a tie and settled on Betmatch’s dead-heat rules. If a match starts but is abandoned or postponed in the second half and not completed within three days of the scheduled start date, then the match shall be settled on the official result of the relevant governing body. In both instances, bets on the match odds market will be settled as set out above, and all other bets will be void except for those on markets which have been unconditionally determined.
  • Payouts are based on the officially declared result, but conditions may apply to specific betting options (e.g. end of normal time, including extra time – an extension of normal time, etc.).

Baseball

  • If a match is played on a different date or at a different venue than originally scheduled, all bets will be void.
  • If a game is abandoned or suspended and rescheduled to a later date Moneyline markets are settled based on the score at the end of the last full inning provided five innings have been played (or 4.5 innings if the home team is ahead) unless the home team scores to tie, or takes the lead in the bottom half of the inning, in which case the winner is determined by the score at the time the game is called. Moneyline markets will otherwise be voided.
  • Moneyline markets will be settled on the final result, including extra innings.
  • Bets will not be impacted by a change to the starting pitcher of either team.
  • Top Half of the Inning is defined as the first half of the inning, while the visiting team is at bat.
Bottom Half of the Inning is defined as the second half of the inning, while the home team is at bat.
  • For Run Line (Handicap) and Totals wagering, games must go at least nine innings (or 8.5 innings if the home team is ahead)or if the official length of the match is 7 innings, then all bets will be void unless there have been 7 innings (6 ½ if the home team is ahead), except (in both circumstances) those bets on markets which have been unconditionally determined.
If the game goes to extra innings, these markets are settled based on the score at the end of the last full inning, should play be halted in the top half of the inning with the home team trailing.
For games suspended and rescheduled to a later date, Total and Run Line markets are voided unless the game has gone nine innings (or 8.5 if the home team is ahead).
  • MLB Playoff games will have action whenever the game is completed.
  • For Japanese NPB Baseball and Korean KBO Baseball, if a game is called, suspended, or declared a tie in extra innings, the score will be determined after the last full inning.

  • “Regular Season Wins” rules are as follows:
    • 160 regular-season games must be played for the market to stand.
    • Postseason wins not included.
    • Team moves or name changes do not affect bets.
    • Regular-season tiebreaker games count as part of the regular season.

  • If a match is played on a different date or at a different venue than originally scheduled, all wagers will be void.
  • If a match starts but is later abandoned or postponed then, within three days of the scheduled start date, (a) at least 43 minutes of play must have elapsed in any NBA match or 35 minutes of play must have elapsed in any other match; or (b) an official result must be ‘called’ by the relevant governing body; otherwise all bets will be void, except for those on markets which have been unconditionally determined
  • For matchup and player prop markets, players must play for wagers to have action, irrespective of game time played. All totals are inclusive of Overtime. Should a player take no part in the game, all bets will be void.
  • All unmatched wagers will be cancelled at tip-off (or the game’s scheduled starting time, if the game is untelevised). If the market is subsequently turned “in running”, at kick-off, all unmatched bets will be cancelled and the market will be set in-play.

Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts

  • Boxing and MMA matches may be posted using either a draw-included (3-way) or no-draw (Moneyline) format.
  • If a Draw option is offered and the fight ends in a draw, wagers on both fighters “to win” will be settled as losers, and wagers “to lose” as winners. If a Moneyline is offered and the fight ends in a draw, all wagers on both fighters will be refunded.
  • If the scheduled length of a fight is changed, all markets involving numbers of rounds (e.g., fight duration) will be cancelled and refunded.
  • If a fight is rescheduled for a different date, all wagers stand so long as the fight takes place within 72 hours of the original date.
  • Disqualifications and technical knockouts (TKOs) are settled as knockouts (KOs).
  • Any fight declared “no contest” will have all wagers refunded.
  • A total listed on a fight represents the total number of completed rounds. If a fighter retires before the start of a round, fails to answer the bell at the beginning of any round, or is disqualified between rounds, the fight will be deemed to have finished at the end of the previous round.
  • If a fight is stopped & a technical decision is awarded before the full number of rounds is completed, or a boxer is disqualified, the fight will be deemed to have finished in the round in which the fight was stopped.
  • In boxing, a half round is defined as 90 seconds of a three-minute round.
  • In MMA, a half round is defined as 150 seconds of a five-minute round.
For Example, In UFC – If a wager is placed on the Total Rounds 2.5 market and the fight is stopped at any time after 2 minutes 30 seconds of the 3rd round, this market will be settled as Over 2.5 = Win.
  • Any fight involving an extra round or “sudden victory” round, this round will be included for wagering purposes
  • In Boxing, a knockdown is defined as a fighter being KO’d or receiving a mandatory eight count (anything deemed a slip by the referee will not count).
  • Boxing and MMA markets will be settled based on the official result at the time. Subsequent appeals or rulings will not be considered.

Cricket

  • If a ball is not bowled during a match, competition, or series, then all bets will be void except for those on any market that has been unconditionally determined (e.g. Coin Toss market).
  • If a match is shortened due to weather, markets, including those decided by the Duckworth-Lewis method, will be settled based on the official result.
  • If a match starts but is later abandoned for any reason other than weather (examples of which may include: dangerous or unplayable wicket or outfield; strike or boycott; crowd protests/violence; pitch vandalism; stadium damage; acts of terrorism; and acts of God), Betmatch reserves the right to void all bets, except for those on markets that have been unconditionally determined (e.g. Coin Toss market).
  • If the match is not scheduled to be completed within five days after the original scheduled completion date, then all bets on markets for this event will be void, except for bets on any markets that have been unconditionally determined.
  • All bets on match betting markets will be void if the result is a tied match in any Test, County, or Limited Overs match. If a match finishes in a tie, that result will count for settlement purposes, regardless of any “Bowl Outs”, “Super Overs”, “Coin Toss”, or other format that may be played to determine the match.
  • If a Super Over Market is offered in a game, then this market will result based on the number of runs scored by each team in the Super Over.
  • If “No Result” is declared for a match, then all bets will be void except for those on markets unconditionally determined.
  • If a match is decided by a bowl-off or coin toss, all bets will be void except for those on markets that are unconditionally determined.
  • In the event of a change of venue, bets will be voided if the new venue is the Home ground of the original Away team.
  • For the following markets: 1st innings runs, 1st innings total runs, first 25 overs runs, total wickets fallen, and batting teams runs scored:
Bets will be void, regardless of whether the outcome of the bet is already determined, if:
    • The scheduled number of overs for the innings is reduced by rain interruption, and at settlement time, the actual number of overs bowled is less than the number of overs stipulated at the head of these rules.
    • If the scheduled number of overs for the innings is reduced for any other reason after the innings has begun and, at settlement time, that new number of scheduled overs is less than the number of overs stipulated at the head of these rules. Please note if the batting side reaches their target within the 20 overs or has been bowled out and the innings hasn’t been reduced in overs to less than the stipulated number at the head of the rules, the market will be settled.
    • For clarification, this market will be settled on the final score achieved by the batting side, including any extras or penalty runs awarded during the innings.

Current Events

Next Pope

  • The markets will be settled on the official result once the College of Cardinals’ votes have been completed and the senior cardinal deacon announces the Pope’s name.
  • Bets are accepted on the basis that they will stand regardless of whether the selection takes part in the event.
Once matched, stakes placed on an ante-post bet are lost if the selection does not participate.

Cycling

  • Where a presentation ceremony takes place, markets will be settled on the official result of the relevant governing body at the time of the ceremony, regardless of any subsequent disqualification or amendment to the result.
  • If there is no presentation ceremony, outcomes will be determined by the official result of the relevant governing body, regardless of any subsequent disqualification or amendment to the result (except if an amendment is announced within 24 hours of the initial settlement of the relevant market to correct an error in reporting the result).
  • It is the user’s responsibility to manage their position. Non-featured riders will be added to this market on request.
  • All bets placed in Outright markets will stand regardless of whether the rider takes part or not.

Darts

  • Where a match starts but is not completed, the player who progresses to the next round is deemed the winner.
  • Where a match starts but is not completed, all bets on handicap markets are void unless the market has been unconditionally determined.
  • Where a match starts but is not completed, all bets on correct score, game, or set markets are void unless the market has been unconditionally determined.
  • In the event of a game ending as a draw, wagers on the Moneyline market will be considered void, and the stake will be returned.
  • PDC World Championship Outrights: Any participants not featured in the markets can be added upon request.

Enhanced Specials

  • Enhanced Multiples are customer-requested ACCAs and not related to our Multiples product on site.
  • These Enhanced Multiples have back and Lay sides.
  • In the event one of the individual games/player(s) within an Enhanced Multiple does not take place as per the sports rules, the Enhanced Multiple will be void and all bets refunded.
  • Unless otherwise specified, normal sports rules apply for each sport.
  • If an Enhanced Special includes selections for Player Shots / Shots On Target / Headed Shots On Target /Assists / Fouls / Try or Goal scorer, all bets placed on players that do not take part in the match will be void, and the entire Enhanced Special will be void.   Players will be deemed participants if they enter the game at any point in 90 minutes (or normal time for that sport) play plus injury time.
  • If an Enhanced Special refers to a length of time until an occurrence in an event (e.g. Team to take the Lead in the first 10 minutes), this first 10 minutes of the match will be defined as any time between 0.00 – 9.59 of the game clock
  • If a shots on target bet or assists requires two or more players to reach a certain target between them. Example Player A and Player B to have 2 shots on target between them. The bet will be valid assuming one of the players enters the field of play. If neither player takes part, the bet will be void.
  • If a shots on target or assists bet requires two or more players to reach a certain target each (example: Player A and Player B to have 2 shots on target each) the bet will require both players to play some part in the game. If one player plays no part in the game, then the bet is void.
  • If an Enhanced Special refers to an assist in Soccer, an assist is defined by the final touch (pass, pass-come-shot or any other touch) leading to the recipient of the ball scoring a goal.
  • If the final touch (as defined above) is deflected by an opposition player, the initiator is only given an assist if the receiving player was the likely intended destination of the touch before the deflection.
  • If a shot on goal is blocked by an opposition player, is saved by a goalkeeper or hits the woodwork, and a goal is scored directly from the rebound, then an assist is awarded.
  • If a player shoots or passes the ball and forces an opposing player to put the ball in their own net (Own Goal), then an assist is awarded to the attacking player.
  • For a penalty or a free-kick, the player winning the penalty or free-kick (by being fouled or causing a handball) is awarded an assist if a goal is directly scored, but not if they take it themselves, in which case no assist is awarded.
  • If an Enhanced Special refers to a foul in Soccer, a foul is defined as any infringement that is penalised as foul play by the referee.
  • Goalkeeper Saves – settlements will adhere to the following criteria: A save occurs when a goalkeeper stops the ball from entering the goal using any part of their body during an intentional attempt on goal by an opposition player.
It’s important to note that if a shot on goal makes contact with a defending player before being gathered by the goalkeeper, it will not qualify as a save and will instead be documented as a block. Likewise, if a goalkeeper makes contact with the ball but it is subsequently cleared by a defender, it will not be classified as a save.
  • For a foul to be awarded, play must be stopped and a free kick must be given. If the referee plays advantage and later distributes a yellow card once the ball goes out of play, this will not count as a foul, as a free kick was never awarded.
  • Offsides and other actions resulting in indirect free kicks do not count as fouls.
  • If an Enhanced Special refers to a Touchdown scorer in American Football, bets will stand as long as the player is deemed to be active for the game (in uniform and ready to play) as per the relevant American Football governing body (e.g. NFL.com). If the player is deemed to be inactive for the game by the relevant American Football governing body, then bets will be voided. Overtime is counted for this market.
  • If an Enhanced Special includes an American Football treble that results in a draw, the whole Enhanced Special will be voided.
  • If an Enhanced Special refers to a player to “Make The Cut” in a golf tournament, bets on this will be settled on the official result posted on the tournament or tour websites.
  • If an Enhanced Special refers to a golf team winning a day’s play where a tie is possible e.g. Europe winning Day 1 of The Ryder Cup, ties will not apply to this special(named team must win).
  • If an Enhanced Special refers to a cyclist(s) winning a stage or winning a certain number of stages, bets will stand as long as the rider(s) take part in any stage of the event. If a rider(s) is withdrawn prior to the start of an event, all bets will be void.
  • For horse racing specials involving a specified Trainer or Jockey to have a designated number of winners, the Trainer/Jockey must participate in at least one race for the bet to remain valid.
  • In the event of a dead heat for any horse racing enhanced place specials, all such dead-heating runners are considered to be fully placed for the purpose of that special.
  • For a horse racing Enhanced Special, all selections must run in their respective races. If any horse is a non-runner, the special will be void.
  • For cricket specials, if a combined boundaries bet requires two or more players to reach a certain target (example: Player A and Player B to combine for over x boundaries) the bet will require both players to play some part in the game. If one player plays no part in the game, then the bet is void.
  • If an Enhanced Special refers to Player Runs in Test Match cricket, the bet will be settled as a WIN when the batsman exceeds the number of runs in the bet; OR as a Loss when either (i) the batsman is declared out, or (ii) the innings, match or series finishes (by whatever means) and the batsman has not reached the number of runs in the bet.
  • If an Enhanced Special refers to a Top Innings/Match Run Scorer in Cricket, in the result of a tie where two or more players have scored the same number of runs, Dead Heat rules will apply.
  • If an Enhanced Special refers to a Top Innings/Match Run Scorer in Cricket, bets on players who are selected in the starting XI but do not bat will be settled as losers. Dead Heat rules will apply.
  • If an Enhanced Special includes an MMA match and one of the selection results in a draw, the wager will be considered a loser.
  • If an Enhanced Special refers to a GAA Player to score, players will be deemed a participant if they enter the game at any point in 70 minutes (or normal time for that sport) play plus injury time. All bets placed on players that do not take place in the match will be void, and the entire Enhanced Special will be void.

GAA

  • Unless otherwise specified, wagers are for 70 minutes of play (60 minutes for Club competitions), including stoppage/injury time.
  • If a match is suspended before full time is reached and is not resumed on the same day, all wagers will be cancelled and refunded.

Golf

  • If a tournament is abandoned and no result is officially declared, all wagers will be cancelled and refunded, except those that have been unconditionally determined (e.g., “Make the Cut” props in a tournament shortened to 54 holes).
  • If a tournament is shortened and play for the day is abandoned, causing the winner to be declared based on the previous round’s play, all wagers matched after the end of the previous round will be cancelled and refunded.
  • For Outright betting, if a player withdraws or is disqualified, they will be settled as a loser, provided they have tee’d off to start the event.
  • For match bets, the player having the lowest score over the designated interval is the winner. If the match bet is over 72 holes and one player misses the cut, the player advancing after the cut is confirmed is deemed the winner. If both players miss the cut, the player with the lower score over the pre-cut interval is the winner. If the tournament goes to a playoff, and both players are involved in the playoff, the player advancing further (for sudden-death playoffs) or completing the playoff with the lower overall score (for fixed-length playoffs) will be deemed the winner.
  • For Tournament matchups, if a player withdraws or is disqualified, they will be deemed the loser of the matchup. Both players must tee off at the start of the tournament for action.
  • For Tournament matchups, if a tournament is shortened to 54 holes, all wagers stand provided the tournament is deemed as being completed (i.e a winner gets declared)
  • For Tournament and Round matchups, if both players finish on the same score, the market will be settled as a push (moneyline only).
  • For “Top Finish” markets eg. Top European, if all players fail to make the cut, the player with the lower score over the pre-cut interval is the winner. If all players finish on the same score, the market will be settled as a dead heat.
  • For Round matchups, if a player withdraws or is disqualified during the round, they will be deemed the loser of the matchup. Both players must tee off at the start of the round for action.
  • For Tournament and Round matchups, if both players withdraw or are disqualified, the winner is the player with the lowest score in the previous round. If the DQ/WDs occur in the first round, or if the match bet is for a single round, all wagers will be cancelled and refunded.
  • For match bets with a half-stroke handicap, the favourite is signified by having a “-” handicap; however, this half-stroke is NOT subtracted from the score for handicap purposes, it is ADDED. (In other words, if the two players tie, the underdog is the winner.)
  • For match bets, both players must tee off for action.
  • For Golf place markets such as Top 5/10/20 Finish markets, dead heat rules apply in the event of ties.
  • For propositions on a player’s score in an individual round, all wagers will be cancelled and refunded if the player does not complete the round.
  • For propositions on a player’s score on an individual hole, wagers will be settled shortly after the player leaves the hole (based on PGA scoring data). If the player does not complete a hole, all wagers will be cancelled and refunded.
  • For Matchplay tournaments, if a match is tied after 18 holes and playoff hole(s) are played, then the market will be settled based on the result after the playoff hole(s). If the tournament allows for halved matches, then the market will be settled as a “half” eg, WGC Match Play group stages. Where no draw option is available the market will be settled as a push.
  • The Ryder Cup, The Presidents Cup, and Hero Cup Winner market will be settled based on the official score result of the match, and not based on who retains the trophy.
  • If a market refers to a player to “Make The Cut” in a golf tournament, bets on this will be settled on the official result posted on the tournament or tour websites.
  • The cut line (i.e. the score required for a player to qualify for the later stages of a tournament) will be determined by the tournament organiser.
  • The market will settle as a win if a player ‘makes the cut’ (meaning the player’s score ranks on or above the cut line).  The market will settle as a loss if a player ‘misses the cut’ (meaning the player’s score ranks below the cut line).
  • Any fairway or green-related markets must finish on the stipulated hole.
  • For a “To Hit The Fairway” market to be deemed a winner, the first stroke by the player must come to a complete stop on the stipulated fairway(with fairway defined as the closely mowed area between the tee box and the green). If a ball lands on the fairway but bounces off the area defined as such(into the rough, parallel fairway, or fairway bunker), this will be deemed a loser for the purpose of the bet. If a player has to hit a provisional ball(defined as a ball played in case the first ball may be out of bounds or lost outside a penalty area), this will not count for market settlement.
  • For a “To Hit The Green” market, the ball must finish on the green from the first stroke off the tee(with green defined as the area specially prepared for playing the ball along the ground, and there is a flagstick for the hole on each green). If a player has to hit a provisional ball(defined as a ball played in case the first ball may be out of bounds or lost outside a penalty area), this will not count for market settlement.

Greyhound Racing

General

  • Markets will be settled according to the official result. Betmatch reserves the right to disregard any subsequent disqualifications, amendments, or appeals to the official result after initial publication.
  • In the event a market remains open and available for betting after the published start time, bets placed after that time are void.
  • All bets on a given event will be declared void in the following circumstances:
    • The race is abandoned.
    • The race date is changed.
    • The race venue is changed.

Non-Runners

  • When a runner is withdrawn or declared a non-starter all bets on that event are void. A new event with updated runners will be created.
  • Betmatch will make every effort to recreate the updated event after a non-runner/non-starter declaration, but cannot guarantee that the updated event will be available before the published start time.

Ante Post

  • If Betmatch becomes aware that a greyhound listed in an ante-post market has died, the market will be suspended while we determine the accuracy of the information and the time of the greyhound’s death. Once this has been confirmed, the selection will be removed from the market and, if appropriate, void all bets placed on the market from midnight on the date of death.
  • If a bet is matched on a greyhound after they have forfeited their entry at a particular entry stage or where they have not qualified by the applicable qualifying date, the bet will be voided unless the race in question has a subsequent supplementary entry stage.
  • If an event is postponed or rescheduled to another day at the same venue and entries are not reopened, then ante-post bets will stand. If an event is postponed or rescheduled to another day at the same venue and the entries are reopened, then all bets will be void.

Forecast

  • This market determines which runners will be officially placed first and second in this race, in the correct order. Runners are listed by trap number. If a non-runner or reserve runner is declared, all bets matched on the race before the update of the market will be void. Dead heat rules apply. If only one dog finishes the race, this market will be settled as a Dead Heat between all combinations of the winning trap.

Horse Racing

General

  • Bets are placed on a named horse. While every effort will be made to ensure information on silks, saddle-cloths, etc. is accurate, this information is provided as a guide only. Betmatch offers no guarantee of accuracy and accepts no responsibility for bets made using this information alone.
  • Betmatch will settle the Horse Racing markets on ‘First past the Post’. If there is a subsequent stewards’ enquiry with an amended result, Betmatch will reverse its settlement and pay out on the official result. The official result at weigh-in on the day of the race decides the individual race outcome. Subsequent appeals, amendments, etc, to the result will not be taken into consideration. Betmatch does not pay Double result, unlike the major sportsbooks in the UK & Irish marketplace.
  • All bets on the race in question will be declared void under the following conditions
    • The race is abandoned or declared void.
    • In the event of a walkover.
    • The race in question is postponed and not run on the scheduled day.
    • The venue or the surface is changed after the market has been published on Betmatch.
  • In the event a race will be re-run, for example as a result of a false start or similar incident, horses not participating in the re-run will be considered non-runners and settled as such.
  • Horses will not be coupled.
  • Where any horse(s) runs for purse money only, it is deemed a non-runner for betting purposes. Should this result in the number of possible winners stated in the relevant Market Information being equal to or greater than the number of runners in the relevant Betmatch market, all bets in the market will be void.
  • Should there be a very close finish, a photo finish declared, a Stewards Enquiry or an Objection called the market may be re-opened with unmatched bets cancelled. The market will then be closed when this result is announced.
  • The “AvB” market requires you to select the horse that will have a better finishing position in the race. This market’s settlement will be based on the official weighed-in result, and in case both horses finish in the same position, the market will be treated as a dead heat. If any of the horses fail to start the race, all bets will become void. However, the market won’t be affected by any other non-runners. It is important to note that for your bets to stand, at least one of the horses must complete the race.

 Non-Runners

  • Bets on horses that come under starter’s orders but refuse to race will be settled as losers.
  • Horses that do not come under starter’s orders will be considered non-runners.
  • When a horse is declared a non-runner, Betmatch will apply an adjustment or deduction factor to the odds on all horses in the field. The deduction factor is calculated based on the odds of the non-runner at the time of withdrawal. The deduction factor is not calculated in the same format as the industry standard rule 4, which is used by the major sportsbooks in the UK & Irish marketplace.
  • Betmatch will remove horses declared as non-runners from the relevant markets once the declaration has been confirmed through the official source. At that point, all bets on that horse in the market in question will be void.
  • Where non-runners in win and place markets have a deduction factor of 2.5% or greater, bets on the remainder of the field will have their odds reduced in line with the non-runners’ deduction factor.
  • When a single non-runner’s deduction factor is found to be less than 2.5%, no deductions will be made on either the win or place markets.
  • Where a horse is withdrawn late, Betmatch reserves the right to:
    • Withdraw the horse in question and apply the deduction factor after the race.
    • Suspend the market until the horse can be removed and a deduction factor applied.
  • Horses withdrawn in error as non-runners will be reinstated at the earliest opportunity. All bets on the horse in question will also be restored. Any deduction factor applied will be reversed, such that pre-deduction factor odds are restored to the market in question. In this situation, Betmatch reserves the right to manually adjust customer account balances to accurately reflect original bet outcomes. All bets made between the time of withdrawal and reinstatement will be void.
  • In the unlikely event that Betmatch does not take action on a non-runner declaration, all bets matched on our systems between the non-runner declaration time and withdrawal of the non-runner, or closing of the race markets, will be reviewed to ensure odds are of fair market price.
  • In the case where the odds are not of a fair market price, the price will be readjusted to reflect the fair market price at the time the bet was matched.

 Deduction Factor

  • When a horse is declared a non-runner from a given race, bets on the remainder of the field will have a deduction factor applied to their odds. These deductions reflect the improved chance of winning for the remaining horses in the field. The deduction factor is not calculated in the same format as the industry standard rule 4, which is used by the major sportsbooks in the UK & Irish marketplace. While a deduction factor is being applied, all open offers on the race in question will be cancelled.
  • In win markets, the deduction factor is applied to the price of each matched bet.

    For example:

In a win market, Horse A, with a deduction factor of 25% is withdrawn and is declared a non-runner. Bets on all other horses remaining in the race will have their odds reduced by 25%. Your bet on Horse Z at odds of 7.0 now becomes odds of 5.25 (7.0 x 0.75 = 5.25).

  • In place markets, the deduction factor is applied to the potential winnings on each bet only, rather than the odds of the bet.

    For example:

In the place market, Horse A, with a deduction factor of 25% is withdrawn and is declared a non-runner. Bets on all other horses remaining in the race will have their odds reduced by 25%. Your bet on Horse Z at odds of 7.0 now becomes odds of 5.5. A €10 bet at odds of 7.0 has the potential winnings of €60. If a non-runner is withdrawn with a deduction factor of 25%, the deduction is therefore applied to the potential winnings of €60. This leaves the potential winnings of €45 or a revised matched price of 5.50.

  • Subsequent non-runner declarations may result in further odds deductions to bets on the remainder of the field.

Place Markets

  • The number of winners in a place market is communicated by the Market Name e.g. ‘Place (3)’, and is determined by the number of runners known to Betmatch when the market is loaded.
  • Once the market opens, the number of winners in the market will not be affected by any further withdrawals.
  • If an error is displayed in the number of winners in a place market, Betmatch reserves the right to void all bets matched on the market and to re-open a new market with the correct amount of number of winners in the place market.
  • If the number of placed horses in the race is less than the number of potential winners listed in the market name, the winners will only be the horses placed in the race.

Ante-post

  • Once the final declaration is announced, ante-post betting is deemed to finish. All bets on individual horses will stand whether the horse runs or not, unless the horse is balloted out, in which case bets will be voided.
  • Bets submitted on horses after their entry to the race has been forfeited at the entry stage or where they have not qualified for the race by the qualifying date will be void, unless the race has a later supplementary entry stage. Betmatch non-runner deductions are not applied to bets placed on the ante-post market.
  • If a race is officially abandoned, declared void, or the conditions of the race are altered, all bets will be void. If a race is postponed, but run at the same venue within seven days of the originally scheduled date, all bets will stand provided the conditions of the race remain the same and the entries are not reopened.

If Betmatch becomes aware that a horse listed in an ante-post market has died, all markets where the horse is a runner will be suspended while Betmatch determines the accuracy of the information and the time of the horse’s death. If this information is confirmed, the runner will be removed from the market and, if appropriate, all bets placed on the market from midnight on the date of death will be voided. If an accurate time for the horse’s death cannot be ascertained, Betmatch may using its discretion and all the information available, decide to void bets from a more reasonable time.

Forecast

  • This market determines which runners will be officially placed first and second in this race, in the correct order. Runners are listed by cloth number. If a non-runner or reserve runner is declared, all bets matched on the race before the update of the market will be void. Dead heat rules apply. If only one horse finishes the race, this market will be settled as a Dead Heat between all combinations of the winning horse.

Accumulator Specials

  • A dead heat for first will count as a full win; this will not be partially settled. If any of the listed horses are announced to be a non-runner, then the appropriate lines will be made void. Any other non-runners not listed will not affect the market; bets will stand at the odds matched, and no deduction factors shall apply. Should any of the races be void or not take place on the scheduled date, then the appropriate lines will be made void.

Distance Specials

  • Betting on the winning distance may be offered for specific races
  • The winning distance will be that margin, as officially announced between the winning horse and the second.

  5. If there is a dead heat for first, second, or third in any race, this will count as one first, second, or third, respectively, for each trainer. However, if a trainer has two horses that dead heat for first, second, or third place, this will only count as one first, second, or third place, respectively.
  6. This market will stand regardless of any void or abandoned races, unless they result in less than 14 races taking place at the Cheltenham Festival, in which case the market will be void.

However, if two horses dead heat for first and are both trained by Irish or British trainers, this will only count as ONE first for either selection.

Hurricanes win the shootout. The final score is settled as 3-2.

  • This market will be void if an election does not take place in 2028. If more than one election takes place in 2028, not including any second round of voting or run-offs for the first election, then this market will apply to the first election that is held. If any doubt exists as to the outcome of the election, Betmatch will determine how to settle the market based on all the information available to it at the relevant time.

If a substitute does not take part in the game, or if a selection is omitted from the matchday squad, then all bets on these selections will be void.
  • If a match is postponed or delayed and does not (or will not) start by midnight on the scheduled date, all bets on the game will be void unless we are aware that the game has been rescheduled to be played and completed within 36 hours of the originally scheduled date. For these instances, bets from the originally scheduled fixture will stand.
  • Tournament Top Tryscorer – Only tries scored in the specified tournament will be considered for a player’s total tries count. • For tournaments featuring single-elimination and similar formats, Betmatch may post “to advance” markets that settle on a match’s final result, regardless of extra time. These markets will be clearly specified – check the event’s “short form” rules for clarification on how match duration affects market settlement.
  • If a match is postponed or rescheduled and is confirmed to take place within the current or following three days of the original local event kick-off date, all bets on the match will stand, unless confirmation of the rescheduled start time is not received within 3 hours of the original kick-off.
  • If confirmation of the rescheduled start time is not received within 3 hours of the original kick-off, all bets will be void.

  • For Handicap wagering, the “-” sign indicates the favourite (just as with major North American sports).
  • In some cases, a team is given two handicap values. If they manage to overcome both of these, then you get a maximum return on your stake. When a handicap is made up of two parts, such as -0.0/0.5 or +1.0/1.5, it means that the bet is split evenly between the two handicaps. So if you back Team A +1.0/1.5 with $100, you are effectively betting $50 on Team A +1.0 and $50 on Team A +1.5. The market is similar to all markets in that you put up offers and take odds in the same way. However, because of the more complex rules surrounding Asian Handicap betting, it is not possible to display the profit and loss on this market. As on all markets, when you place a bet, money will be reserved from your account to cover your maximum possible liability on the market.
  • Bets on half-time markets e.g, Half-Time Result, are settled on the result of a match at half-time, including injury and stoppage time. Bets will stand regardless of subsequent abandonment or postponement of games after Half-Time.
  • First Goalscorer markets are for 90 minutes only, inclusive of any stoppage time. Extra time and penalty shootouts are not included. Bets will be voided on any player who takes no part in the match or who comes on as a substitute after the first goal has been scored. Own goals do not count for settlement purposes and are ignored. Players may need to be added to these markets after the market is opened. Markets will be settled based on the goalscorer as outlined on premierleague.com. Subsequent appeals or rulings will not be considered.
  • At the start of a Live Betting match, all open offers will be cancelled and the markets will be made available for live betting. On the occurrence of a “material event” the market will be suspended, all open offers will be cancelled, and the market reopened for live betting. Betmatch defines a material event as a goal being scored, a penalty being awarded or a player being sent off.
  • Where a material event occurs and a market is not suspended and/or open offers are not cancelled Betmatch reserves the right to suspend the market and void bets matched after the occurrence of the material event in question. Should this be necessary, Betmatch will make the best effort to void the erroneously matched bets during the sporting event. The voiding of said bets may be delayed by our attempts to accurately determine the actual time of the material event.
  • Wagers placed on in-running (Live) Handicap markets will be settled by the result of the final score (90 minutes) with the relevant handicaps applied.
  • Where listed, ‘BTTS’ refers to Both Teams to Score.

  • VAR: In the event of a decision being reversed due to VAR technology, all bets will be cancelled between the time of the market reopening following the awarding of a goal, penalty, red card (material events), and the subsequent reversal. If a goal, penalty, or red card is awarded following the referee signalling for VAR, all bets placed between the time of the referee calling for VAR and the awarding of the material event will be voided and stakes returned.
  • VAR review to be used in 90 minutes: You are betting on A VAR review to be used in 90 minutes. A review involves the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) reviewing the play in question. This can be triggered by a request from the referee or the VAR conducting a ‘check’ to see if a review needs to take place. If the VAR rules that a clear and obvious error has been made, a ‘review’ will take place. The referee can either change their decision on the advice of the VAR or conduct an on-field review by going to a designated screen on the sideline. A VAR ‘check’ will not count as a winning outcome. VAR reviews used during extra time will not be counted for settlement purposes. The referee must indicate that a ‘review’ will take place by clearly showing the ‘TV signal’ (gesturing an outline of a TV screen) in accordance with official FIFA rules. If a match is abandoned, any bets where the outcome has already been decided will stand. All other bets will be made void
  • EPL Season Handicap: If two or more teams tie for the highest amount of points, this market will be settled as a Dead Heat.
  • If a market includes selections for player shots/shots on target, all bets placed on players that do not take part in the match will be void and the entire market will be void. Players will be deemed participants if they enter the game at any point during 90 minutes of play plus injury time.
  • If a shots on target bet or assists requires two or more players to reach a certain target between them. Example Player A and Player B to have 2 shots on target between them. The bet will be valid assuming one of the players enters the field of play. If neither player takes part, the bet will be void
  • If a shots on target or assists bet requires two or more players to reach a certain target each (example: Player A and Player B to have 2 shots on target each) the bet will require both players to play some part in the game. If one player plays no part in the game, then the bet is void.
  • Handicap with tie – For example, if Team A +2 is selected, 2 goals will, for settlement purposes, be added to the score of Team A.
if Team B -2 is selected , 2 goals will be deducted from the score of Team B
Where the draw is selected in a handicap market, the relevant bet will be determined by adjusting the home team’s
score by the applicable handicap (for example, Team A -2, finishes 2-0 to Team A, then the draw option is the winner)
  • The Golden Boot Award goes to the top goalscorer in the UEFA European Football Championship 2024. If there is more than one player with the same goals, the tie breaker goes to the player who has contributed the most assists. If there is still more than one player, the award goes to the player who has played the least amount of time.
  • Top Goal Scorer Market – Only goals scored in the stated division/league/cup tournament will count towards a player’s total goals. All bets stand irrespective of whether or not a player takes part in the division/league/cup. Own goals, or disallowed goals, will not count. Dead Heat rules apply in the event of a tie.
  • An assist is defined by the final touch (pass, pass-come-shot or any other touch) leading to the recipient of the ball scoring a goal.
  • If the final touch (as defined above) is deflected by an opposition player, the initiator is only given an assist if the receiving player was the likely intended destination of the touch before the deflection.
  • A foul is defined as any infringement that is penalised as foul play by the referee.
  • For a foul to be awarded, play must be stopped and a free kick must be given. If the referee plays advantage and later shows a yellow card once the ball goes out of play, this will not count as a foul, as a free kick was never awarded.
  • Offsides and other actions resulting in indirect free kicks do not count as fouls.
  • Cards – Yellow cards count as one, red cards count as two. Two yellow cards leading to an automatic red will count as one yellow and one red card(3 cards). Cards will only count if shown to players after they take to the pitch for the first time and before they leave the pitch for the final time. All bets apply to Full Time according to the match officials, plus any stoppage time. Extra-time/penalty shoot-outs are not included. Any card shown after the full-time whistle has been blown will be disregarded.
  • Tackles – a tackle is defined as when a player connects with the ball in a ground challenge and successfully takes the ball away from the player in possession.

Tennis

  • One full set must be completed for ‘Moneyline’ bets to stand. If less than one set is completed, all ‘Moneyline’ bets will be considered void.
  • If a tennis match is not completed due to player or pairing retirement or disqualification, all bets on ‘Handicap’ and ‘Total’ markets will be considered void.
  • Set Betting: At the start of play, this market will be set in-running, and all unmatched bets will be cancelled. If a player retires or is disqualified before the completion of the match, all bets on this market will be void.
  • If a player or pairing retires during a match, the player or pairing progressing to the next round (or winning the tournament in the case of a final) is deemed the winner UNLESS the match has gone less than one full set, in which case all bets will be void.
  • If a player or pairing fails to start a tournament or match, all bets on that player or pairing will be void.
  • All bets relating to the number of occurrences of certain events within a tournament will be void if the tournament is reduced in length, cancelled or postponed, except for those on markets which have been unconditionally determined.
  • All matches have action regardless of delays or postponements, including changes to either the venue or the type of surface
  • Where markets are offered on individual games or sets within a match, a retirement or disqualification during a game or set will render bets on that game or set market and all individual game or set markets void except for those on markets which have been unconditionally determined.
  • Unless otherwise specified, all handicaps and totals refer to Games.

If the scheduled duration of a match is reduced or increased in the number of games/sets required to win, then all bets will be void except for those on markets which have been unconditionally determined. Please note that this does not apply to ‘Match Odds’ or ‘Set Winner’ markets on Davis Cup matches or ‘dead rubber’ matches that have been shortened from five sets to three sets after the market has been loaded, provided that the match has been shortened in accordance with the competition’s rules

TV Specials

  • Betmatch will not void or settle bets on individual runners unless this market as a whole is voided or settled. Customers are entirely responsible for their bets at all times. All bets stand, run or not.
